Health system to break ground on region's most comprehensive orthopaedic surgery center

Physicians, administrators and staff will celebrate the official start of construction on University of Missouri Health Care's new Missouri Orthopaedic Institute with a groundbreaking ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 5, near the intersection of Stadium Boulevard and Monk Drive.

The Missouri Orthopaedic Institute will be the newest and largest freestanding orthopaedic center in central Missouri, as well as the region's most comprehensive orthopaedic surgery center. The $52.5 million facility will provide orthopaedic patients with a full range of care in a single location.

Parking is available in parking lot CG-1 off Hospital Drive. A shuttle bus will also be available to transport participants from the parking area to the ceremony location.

Speakers will include Gary Forsee, president of the University of Missouri; Brady Deaton, MU chancellor; James Ross, chief executive officer of University of Missouri Health Care; William Crist, MD, dean of the MU School of Medicine; and Jason Calhoun, MD, chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and J. Vernon Luck Sr. Distinguished Professor.
