Media invited to demonstration of mid-Missouri's first surgical robot
University of Missouri Health Care physicians will demonstrate mid-Missouri's first and only da Vinci® Surgical System, the latest advance in precision robotic surgery, during an open house at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Columbia Regional Hospital's Conference Center, 404 Keene Street.
The state-of-the-art da Vinci Surgical System will allow surgeons to perform minimally invasive surgeries without ever touching the patient. Surgeons view a magnified three-dimensional image on a console and use their wrists, hands and fingers to operate master controls. These controls move robotic arms that translate the surgeon's hand, wrist and finger movements into precise, real-time movements of surgical instruments inside the patient.
